Nettlebed Brick Kiln |
Motorists driving through Nettlebed just outside Henley might wonder what this weird shaped building is, which is set back a little from the main road. I had a look some time ago when I stopped with the dogs, and was interested to discover that it is in fact a brick kiln. Apparently it is the only bottle shaped kiln left in the country after being restored in the 1970s having going into disrepair once it ceased operation in 1938. It dates back to the late 17th or early 18th century, so it's made a few bricks! 😊
